A bit of Halloween fun. The song version of this was my first track to appear on a CD. You can hear Alan Johnston--Cathead--perform it by clicking here. Believe me, it's a real treat, as Alan did an amazing job with it. My version is on my CD,where I'm accompanied by Michael Frazier on this poem and others, and also by Tony Charnock and Ed Dunn on other tracks. You can read about it, and find links to my other recited works, by clicking here.
A Spirited Denial
Words and spoken vocal by Jeff Mondak
Music by Michael Frazier
Haunted house! Haunted house!
That's what the children shout
But I've been here for centuries
And ghosts I've been without
I died in 1824
My age was ninety-three
There's never been one single ghost
There's no one here but me
Haunted house? Ridiculous!
A ghost I would have seen
So don't be scared, come ring my bell
I'm here each Halloween!
