A song I wrote and recorded back in the early eighties..Happy Easter Everyone!
THE CARPENTER AND HIS CROSS
The greatest piece of carpentry work this world has ever seen
Wasn’t some fancy building of structural strength or sheen
It wasn’t some modern home of someone’s happy dreams
It was just a rough old rugged cross cut out of some old beam
Some called him Jesus of Nazareth or the man from Galilee
The one who was born in Bethlehem of the virgin Mary
But of all the cities and towns along his life’s way
I thank God for the stop that my Jesus made at Calvary that day
CHORUS
He was the carpenter the carpenter the carpenter and his cross
He came one day to a world that was dying and lost
Well God laid the plans
Then man nailed his hands
To a cross to a cross
Some may say it was coincidental but I know it was in God’s plans
That the tools they used to crucify him when they nailed his hands
Were the tools that Jesus used as a carpenter’s son
And when he gave his life at Calvary mine had just begun
CHORUS
