My mother in law will be ninety years old in May. She still lives in her home and cooks for family and friends. James Cain went to the grade school where she was a cook and he said he never forgot about the peanutbutter cookies she use to give him. I believe she fed kids through the years that needed a helping hand because she is just that kind of a giving person. My wife and her sisters and having a big birthday party for her next month. James and George did a wonderful song a while back about the angel in an apron.....here's the one I came up with today.....I hope you like it. Ron
My Angel In An Apron / Music by Panda Studio / Vocal Ron Walls
A blonde haired boy in tattered clothes holes in my blue jeans
Our family’s paycheck always ran out before the month in seemed
Momma always did her best with what she had to go around
Daddy had a taste for whiskey and paintin up the town
School was never my favorite place momma had to make me go
Sometimes I didn’t have a lunch kids laugh at my ragged clothes
But I had a special angel sent from God above
At that old hilltop schoolhouse she taught the lessons of love
My angel in an apron meant the world to me
Her loving touch and special smile helped a little boy to see
That one lady’s compassion loving kindness and good deeds
Could change a life by showing love with each cookie she gave to me
A cook at the grade school but oh a whole lot more
Knew the kids that didn’t have much us ones who were dirt poor
She always had a sandwich if you had no lunch that day
And would slip me one of her cookies at recess as we’d go play
Chorus
Well I stopped by to see her when I came back home
Many years have come and gone soon she’ll be ninety years old
Still cookin for friends and family dishin out her special love
And for one little boy in tattered clothes she will always be my angel in an apron
She was god sent from above my angel in an apron
