This is the re write of a song I posted earlier and took some of the ramper's and MAB's advice on the re-write.
What More...
(V1) It got down to 40 yesterday
& it's snoin' in the hills
we moved the herd down from the summer range
'cause around here winter kills.
(lift) & that old furnace don't work right no more
but I can't spend money I ain't got
I can keep the pipes from freezing but it won't be warm
still I thank God for what we've got.
(CH) We've got a roof to keep our heads dry
& we've got food enough to eat
when it's cold we've got each other
& that old truck I'm drivin', it belongs to me.
What more do we really need?
(V2) When we can see our own breath in the living room
we'll wrap up in every blanket that we've got
maybe we could bake ourselves a cake or two
& let the oven take the edge off.
(lift) & I guess that we can watch "Titanic" one more time
with your head down on my shoulder when you cry.
It won't look quite as good on that old VHS
but at least I'll have you sittin' by my side.
(CH)
(Bridge) Last night I dreamt that real estate came back around
For each acre I'd get 5,000 bucks.
It only took me half a second to turn it down
when I thought about the freedom we'd be givin' up.
