OD OldDog songs
I've been working with Marc Alan Barnette, as my mentor, for over a year now. During my trip in early February we co-wrote two songs. This song is one of my favorite's that I've written with him.
Now Marc could have written this song by himself in twenty minutes (I've seen him do it) but he was very patient and allowed me to write a good deal of the lyrics. He was my filter, as I had to run the ideas past him first. He layed down a great groove and we had two songs recorded at Jay's Studio last week.
This one is called "Man Up" . Hope you like it.
Recorded: Jay's Studio, Nashville
Singer: MAB

MAN UP
MAB / Old Dog
John has missed just enough work
to make Personnel probation
The Bank just called he's late again
for his monthly car loan donation
Only raise he ever gets is in his boss's voice
And that beat up Caddy is what he calls
his Hillbilly Rolls Royce
One look at those bloodshot eyes
from that guy in the mirror
Less alcohol and more Visine
might make him see a little bit clearer
Chorus:
He Needs to Man Up, get his head on straight
Pull it all together, step closer to the plate
Listen to the wisdom from behind the Pearly Gates
They sure know their stuff
He needs to Man Up...... Man Up
John's been datin Cindy Salem
for going on ten years
Her pleas to make him settle down
fall upon deaf ears
Last night while watching re-runs
of the Steelers and Green Bay
Had to wait for a commercial
to tell him their in the family way
Got to trade his toys that entertain Big Boys
that Harley's gonna have to go
A baby stroller makes less noise
but still rides low
Chorus:
Instrumental
