Jeff Mondak songs
This song is about my dad, Art Mondak, who turned 90 on August 7, 2018.
Rusty Blake graciously worked on this with me. The title refers to some people my Dad met--Harry Truman and Neil Armstrong. The bridge first includes a few places I visited with my Dad when I joined him on sales trips, followed by a few I've been able to take him since he retired.
A year before the Depression came
Thats when the tale begins
A house became more crowded when
The West Side welcomed twins
The youngest learned piano
And gained a certain charm
He watched his brothers swing band
And he worked the family farm
Many paths are chosen when answering the call
I see the aging photos on my corner office wall
Roosevelts replacement and the man who walked the moon
Stand beside a young man, hes been growing up too soon
With cleverness and rapid wit
And jokes both fresh and stale
Standing up for family
Supporting without fail
A salesman with integrity
And with a craftsmans skill
Who taught of dedication,
Persuasiveness and will
Many paths are chosen when answering the call
I see the aging photos on my corner office wall
Roosevelts replacement and the man who walked the moon
Stand beside a young man, hes been growing up too soon
Ohio, West Virginia, New York and Pennsylvania
Costa Rica, Slovakia, Japan and Transylvania
Driving through a dozen states, trains in many nations
Hes shown that lives are only rich when built on strong foundations
Many paths are chosen when answering the call
I see the aging photos on my corner office wall
Roosevelts replacement and the man who walked the moon
Stand beside a young man, hes been growing up too soon
