Sergio has been performing my songs for a while, but this is the first we wrote together. We wrote it in about 20 minutes at about 9:30 on the night of the Bash, in response to a request from Katie and Mary Kay, two young women in the sushi place just down from the Bash. Katie and Mary Kay turned 21 that night, and wanted a song to help with the celebration. What we had to work with was their names, that their birthdays both were on April 3rd, that they had just turned 21, that they attend Vanderbilt, that they are baseball fans, that we were in a sushi place, and that Katie is from Las Vegas. 

Sergio had a chance to bang out a quick, live two-track recording of the song recently. I was in the room; if you listen closely, you can hear my brain creak at the end.
