Take My Hand
The soft wind blows her hair
Her eyes shine in the moonlight air
Standing by her side
I see her mind is not there with me tonight.
Lonely stands the ancient stones
The trees close around us both
Like a frozen moment in the dream.
Long days of walking, talking by her side
Making plans for her life
Future always looking bright
Then comes the setting sun
In time the spell is done
Like tonight ……
Please won’t you take my hand?
I can’t go alone tonight
Can’t you just ease this pain this time?
Tonight … tonight ….
Water lapping on the sand
Awakes me as alone I stand
Now with someone else
I see her smiling at the touch of his hand
Lonely stands the ancient stones
The trees sway in remorse
Like the frozen moment of a scream
Long days of walking, talking by her side
Lying together for a while
Laughing at our fears and smile
Then the moon alters the tide
And in time I hurt inside
Like tonight ……
Please won’t you stop the shifting sand?
I can’t let it go tonight
Can’t you just slow the pain this time?
Tonight … tonight
