A California Christmas
Music & Lyrics by Lee James McAboy and Sheila Kaufman
For a California Christmas
Norman Rockwell's not our style
But we've found a way to mark the day
And do it with a smile.
Our yule log comes from Costco
with carols on cd,
or Feliz Navidad on our ipod
to bring us Christmas glee.
For a California Christmas, Palm trees everywhere
Hear the cell phone jingles floating through the air.
For A California Christmas, don't look for any snow
But Santa's on his surfboard with a Merry HO HO HO
Cards may come by email
but the greetings are the same
we simply choose a heartfelt theme
and then just add our name.
We buy our Christmas Cookies
But still they taste as sweet,
And Starbucks Eggnog Lattes,
A perfect winter treat!
For A California Christmas ...
Jack Frost stays far away from here
No nipping of the nose
But kisses underneath the mistletoe
Still can curl your toes
All the lovers scan the rooms
Looking round to find
Red bows tied on plastic mistletoe
But they don't seem to mind.
For a California Christmas...
So watch for Surfing Santa
Don't go looking for his sleigh.
He may be wearing flip flops
Or surf on in to say
Have a Very Merry Christmas
Have a happy holiday
Have a very Merry Christmas
The California way.
