GROUNDHOG
Written by: Ron Walls and James Cain © 2012
Ron called me up a while back and said there was a groundhog in his yard eating all the flowers that he had planted. I remember the groundhog that ate most of our garden, when I was a kid. I told Ron he ought to write a song about it he sent some lyrics and after merging the two this is the result.
I Planted me a garden three weeks ago today
Life was good Till the garden disappeared without a trace
I heard a little scratching and opened the back door to see
There sat a varmint with a grin just looking up at me…..
There’s a groundhog in the garden……eating up the corn and beans
There’s a groundhog in the garden……he’s big furry and mean
I saw him this morning run in a hole ….
Gotta get my shovel and a 10 foot pole
Honey I’m sorry…..I can’t go with you to the Mall
I GOTTA catch that critter……or we won’t have a garden at all
Darling would you bring me…. a sandwich on your way home
I got a varmint to catch ……and I’m gonna’ be here all day long.
There’s a groundhog in the garden……eating up the corn and beans
There’s a groundhog in the garden……he’s big furry and mean
I saw him this morning run in a hole ….
Gotta get my shovel and a 10 foot pole
Mr. Groundhog I’m gonna make an example out of you
Cause when you eat a poor man’s garden you’ll end up a poor man’s stew.
There’s a groundhog in the garden……eating up the corn and beans
There’s a groundhog in the garden……he’s big furry and mean
I saw him this morning run in a hole ….
Gotta get my shovel and a 10 foot pole
Gotta get my shovel
Gotta get my shovel
Gotta get my shovel
Gotta get my shovel and a 10 foot pole
