It Was Sunday

She walked out the front door….with her suitcase packed
She turned around for one longggggg last look
She said “You’re gonna’ miss me Boy …….You just don’t know it yet
That’s the last thing I heard her say……and I’ll never forget
It was Sunday…..I heard the Church bells ring
Now all my life….. that sound has haunted me
It was early spring….. when I heard the robins sing
To this day…… I hear them laughing at me
I saw her with her little boy…..a year ago last may
I stopped before she saw me I turned around and walked away
I could’ve been his daddy……. He could’ve looked like me
She was right…. I could’ve had the world……but I lost it in one day
It was Sunday…..I heard the Church bells ring
Now all my life….. that sound has haunted me
It was early spring….. when I heard the robins sing
To this day…… I hear them laughing at me
Now……… all I have is memories ………memories that time won’t take
It was Sunday…..I heard the Church bells ring
Now all my life that sound has haunted me
It was early spring when I heard the robins sing
To this day…… I hear them laughing at me
It was Sunday…..I heard the Church bells ring
