A few weeks ago Dave Rice mentioned this song to me in a sitemail. He had also mentioned the cowriter Julie Springer. I had forgotten about this song until Dave mentioned it. When Julie and I wrote this , I was still fairly new to Songramp and still getting used to writing again after being away from it for nearly 20 years. We felt it was a good song but needed improvements that we never got a chance to make. Well I contacted her and she said I have her approval for changes in advance.THANKS JULIE !!! So here's our latest version.
Ate spaghetti fourth time this week
Ain't we lucky
Had the sauce without the meat
Ain't we lucky
But to give it extra class
we pic nic'd on the grass
toasted wine in a plastic glass
Ain't we lucky
The truck don't always start
Ain't we lucky
It's too old to buy the part
Ain't we lucky
But there's nothing more we like
Than to ride our tandem bikes
We're as happy as two tykes
Ain't we lucky
chorus
If people talk , we don't hear
Our love is all we see
Our future's looking bright and clear
We'll be a happy family
Our t.v. set is fried
Ain't we lucky
But our nights are occupied
Ain't we lucky
We spend primetime in the nude
don't always make it to our room
Seems we're always in the mood
Ain't we lucky
repeat chorus
Our t.v. set's still fried
Ain't we lucky
But we'll be more occupied
Ain't we lucky
Because of being in the mood
The baby's due in June
The doc says maybe two
Ain't we lucky
