Hi Ramper
Thanks for all the listens on Country Fried both my instrumental and Michael Fraziers vocal version. I was really pleasantly surprised with his version. And also thanks for the birthday wishes , I loved growing up in the 60s and I'm happy to be seeing the 60s.
Now we're back at the Songramp sockhop. Mike Hackworth sent me the lyrics and so I came up with a slightly edgey rock-a-billy number. Using my wayback machine, I'd place this at 1961. Uncle Sam had Elvis in Germany so we had people like Conway Twitty, Carl Mann and Charlie Pride making sound alike records. The cold war was heating up and we still had the draft and so young men either went in the military or went to college. Either way they had a young lover back home. Put your twist shoes er, ah twist socks on and let's dance.
Young lover heart broken, young lover so blue
Why do you cry ffor me, when I'm away from you
Heaven knows I love you and miss your sweet charms
I'm lonesome and waiting to hold you in my arms
chorus
So why do you cry and why do you sigh
I've told you the way I feel
So brush away your tears and cast away your fears
You know that my love is real
Young lover I've written a letter today
To tell you that our love is the only way
My wish is to see you , the chances are few
So hold forth my love til I return to you
repeat chorus repeat first verse end chorus
