Hi Rampers
I hope everyone is having a great New Year. This song is part of a goal Pam Bowen and I set for this year. There's an up and coming teen duo act that are brothers. They are looking for new bluegrass songs for their repertoire. Pam and I brainstormed on this. It's like listening to brothers conversing on how they appreciate each other. The verse is split into part being sung by brother #1 and then brother #2 adds more to the story in the second half of each verse. Unfortunately for this demo I'm singing both parts.
BTW Pam cowrote a song titled "Southern Californian" with the Kanan Road band. This is the video of the song if you get a chance check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv4WX2WXODE . Both the song and performance are great. Thanks
brother #1
I came running through the loud schoolground
When Bo Bullinski pinned you down
You defended yourself from his taunts and teasing
But he punched so hard that his fists were bleeding
brother #2
You pulled him off to make him quit
We thought that would be the end of it
Right then is when the bullies knew
A fight with me is a fight with you
chorus
Brother I've got your back
From a frontal assault to a sneak attack
If there's a hater talking smack
You know brother I've got your back
brother #1
The teacher hauled us all inside
Asked who started it and big Bo lied
He pointed his finger right at me
But the honest truth was plain to see
Brother #2
Cause I was the one with the blackened eye
That shined the light on Bo's fat lie
When I said you were defending me
Bo got busted and we went free
repeat chorus
Bridge
Oh no bro' I'm not your keeper
The bond of brothers runs much deeper
Through thick and thin you'll hear me say
I'll stand behind you all the way
chorus out
