O.K here's the story this is a rough mix of a 25 year old recording taken from a cassette. I wrote this for a performer in Texas whose guitar players name was Festus. It was scheduled to be the b side of the next 45 rpm commercial release. Honestly I don't remember the singers name but it was to be released on a small indie label in Texas. I know they performed it live but it's one of two almost cuts in my life that never made it to the pressing plant .The saying used to be it's not final 'til it's vinyl. Looking back I'd have to say the lyrics weren't award winning but it was pretty rock sounding for a country artist. If anyone knows Festus tell him I said hi!
I'm sure you've heard the tale of Johnny Be Good
Well I can go one better
'Cause when that cat picks up his axe it's understood
He's a class A fretter
He gets down and dirty and he picks so mean
He's got a reputation on the Texas scene
Come on Festus bring the house down X 3
You're the greatest picker around
From either coast the people come to hear him play
This cat that's known as Festus
Once the crowd is smoking from his hotest licks
They know who the best is
He gets down and dirty and he plays so mean
He's got a reputation on the Texas scene
Come on Festus bring the house down X 3
You're the greatest picker around
