O.K. Ramper , dudes and dudettes it's 50's sock hop time. Porkbeli (Steve Adamczyk) and I had been discussing how rock and roll from the 50's is my comfort food. He suggested that we write a song about it. We confirmed the hook at Rampbash and I went home and wrote the chorus and laid down a musical bed and he wrote the verses. Now I used a lot of 50's songs to model this after so it may sound like a familiar 50's song. Anyway put a dime in the jukebox and take a slice of our Comfort Food.
Flavor up some Berry and some Holly , too
Mix it all together you get comfort stew
Season with some Dion 'til it's Everly smooth
Fat man at piano taste the Orleans groove
Back then oh the music had a heart and soul
Give me a diet of old rock and roll
Monotones will wonder 'bout the book of love
Haley is a rockin' dim those lights above
Early Elvis warning 'bout his blue suede shoes
Rydell on the Bandstand swinging at his school
Back then oh the music had a heart and soul
Give me a diet of old rock and roll
chorus
Some folks have a taste for the blues
Or crave a lick of jazz that's smooth
But I choose old rock and roll
It's the comfort food of my soul
instrument break
Little Richards rockin' by the light of the moon
Jerry Lee knows how to shake it, too
Diamonds are forever , summertime blues
Add a little Ricky, that's comfort food
repeat chorus
