Damascus Road

Saul was a pharisee
His infamy grew
Persecuting the Christians
When the Christians were new
He put them in prison
And had Stephen stoned
Then walked his Damascus Road
He was well on his way
When a heavenly light
Blinded him three days
But Saul found his sight
It was Jesus Messiah
Whom the prophets foretold
That day on Damascus Road
[Chorus]
Damascus Road, Damascus Road
He was dead in the law
As he kicked against the goads
He thought he was righteous
From the seeds that he sowed
That day on Damascus Road
Now Jim was a good man
Courteous and fun
A secular saint
If there ever was one
But he scoffed at Jesus
Lived by his own code
As he walked his Damascus Road
[Chorus]
Damascus Road, Damascus Road
He was dead in the law
As he kicked against the goads
He thought he was righteous
From the seeds that he sowed
As he walked his Damascus Road
[Bridge]
What does it profit if a man gains the world
Only to lose his soul
What does it profit as he reaches his end
And the judgment of God unfolds
Well I hope your life's good
I hope you have fun
And I hope you'll find peace
In God's holy Son
He has carried your cross
Paid the debt that you owed
As you walk your Damascus Road
[Chorus]
Damascus Road, Damascus Road
In the land of milk and honey
Will your cup overflow
Give Jesus your burden
Let Him lighten your load
As you walk your Damascus Road
