Try to build a home try to raise a child

try to make a living on a minimum wage

Try to pay a fee for all your liberty

In Hell's kitchen we all pitch in    load the stove and feed the fire

the devil's cookin' while no one's lookin'  a nation stewing in desire 

Look the other way  look from where you came

look at what those founding fathers tried to stage

look at all those men hands out once again

Hell's half acre is a money maker for the bankers and the trusts

and the law makers and promise breakers every body else is bust

try to build a life    try to have a dream

try to get away from this hopeless cage
