Erik Hodges songs
This one dates back to 1977. I spent a beery evening with a teacher of mine in college, who had just come back from a visit with his girl friend who was a hooker in Boston's red light district. He told me ,tearfully, that she had been a junky for some time and that night she was so far gone that when he left her, he didn't know if she was dead or alive. I never learned the outcome of that tale, but while he was telling me, my teacher reminded me of Don Quixote, tilting at windmills and turning whores into princesses.
I know you're out there in the stratosphere
so you cannot hear me now
Ijust can't lose you after all this time
so I will help you down somehow
*Oooh Dulcinea
Oooh Dulcinea
There's no Knowing
where we're going
please don't you leave me now
I have to try to make you understand
I've paid every price to have you
but I can't hold your life in my hands
come around and tell me what to do*
I think I just heard a knock on the door
you know I can't be found here with you
I'll take the window to the fire escape
I guess you must be leaving too*
I know you're out there in the stratosphere
so you cannot hear me now
Ijust can't lose you after all this time
so I will help you down somehow
*Oooh Dulcinea
Oooh Dulcinea
There's no Knowing
where we're going
please don't you leave me now
I have to try to make you understand
I've paid every price to have you
but I can't hold your life in my hands
come around and tell me what to do*
I think I just heard a knock on the door
you know I can't be found here with you
I'll take the window to the fire escape
I guess you must be leaving too*
