With the recent three way in the southwest sky between Venus, Jupiter and the 'bella lune', I was reminded of  a tune I wrote way back in 1983.

Venus and the moon are flying in formation through the sky tonight                I'm thinking of a girl in this poetic light and trying to write a song                   but the words won't come together and the melody's too long

Venus and the moon have watched me make a fool of myself again                    I want a lover    she only wants a friend she's happy on her own                         so who am I to force her if she wants to be alone*

Venus and the moon were there when we started     they were there when we parted they are here with me now

they always bring me comfort when I'm feeling low loves may come and go  but venus and the moon and I still go on somehow

Venus and the moon have seen the same old story many times before                I wonder why they always come back for more  why don't they run and hide     perhaps that's what the clouds are for  to keep their light inside*
