A Christmas Recipe

Mommas baking Christmas cookies 
Ill frost them and sprinkle with flair
Made with hands of tender love and care
Shes putting packages together
I said momma whats in the recipe 
Would you share it with me...she said

Its a Christmas recipe
Handed down from our family tree
You start with a touch of joy to share
Mix in a pinch of the seasons cheer
Add a little wish for peace on earth
Blend in a precious virgin birth
Sprinkle it with love for the world to see
Now youve got a Christmas recipe

Momma did all of the wrapping
I topped off boxes with bows
As pretty shinny paper brightly glowed
We carried the boxes to the car
I said momma I dont understand
As she took me by the hand...and said 


As we drove to different places
I could see it on their faces
A lonely widowed lady from our church
A hungry homeless man with a ragged shirt
And a teenage runaway with no self worth
We were sharing these gifts with those who need
So we could enjoy a Christmas recipe
