My wife and I grew as Air Force Brats, more so for my wife, whose Dad was a machine gunner on Guadalcanal, and later after Korea, transferred to the Air Force where he was a fire chief. My oldest daughter followed her Grandpa’s path and enlisted right out of high school and my nephew JR has been in 14 years, served in the Mid-East after 9-11 and recently worked on the cleanup in japan after the tsunami and nuclear problems there. We expected him home, but 2 weeks ago found out they shipped him to Korea. My sister-in-law hasn’t seen her son in over 2 years and took the news not so well and cried a bit. Brenda then wrote “Setting Suns” and I asked Diane Gee aka BlingChigger to do the vocals for us. I can’t say enough good things about Diane, a real pro with a sweet Alison Krauss sound that we wanted for this song.

Vs.1
Half way around the world
Sits my military son
Don’t hear much from him
He’s always on the run
Setting suns happen here and there
Be Sure to look at one.. and be aware
Chorus
I always wonder if he’s alright
Thinking of him when day turns to night
Yeah our setting suns keeps us apart
But my boy stays in my heart
Vs2.
They just go from base to base
Desert sand and worry on their face
I’ll keep watching that setting sun
Hoping one day he’ll lay down his gun
Setting suns happen here and there
Be sure to look at one.. and be aware
I always wonder if he’s alright
Thinking of him when day turns to night
Yeah our setting suns keeps us apart
But my boy stays in my heart
Outro: Setting Suns oh..oh Setting Suns
