I haven't posted a song since my son Andrew died two years ago. My last couple of songs were about him.
I've thrown myself into getting my solo act off the ground, but recently got involved with acouple of friends who are local country musicians. We decided we'd write and record a couple of songs, and this first one is one of mine.
I know what a great "store" for country song ideas is relationships between drink and women, but, (as far as I know), no one has explored three different scenarios in the same song, using a different lead vocalist for each verse.
Couple that with a sing along chorus, and that's it! Many thanks to the boys for singing / playing on this.
Roy Campell, 3rd verse lead vocal, harmonies, and dobro.
Anthony Walsh, 2nd verse lead vocal, harmonies, and rhythm guitar.
Me, 1st verse lead vocal, harmonies, drums, keyboards, and bass.
LET’S DO IT ALL AGAIN
When I woke up this morning, there’s a wineglass by the bed.
And though I’m still hungover, I can’t get you outa my head.
The memory of our break up, reminds me of the pain.
But I know I’d still do it all again.
CHORUS
Yes let’s
Do it all again, just like we did before.
You know we had a good time, and I just want some more
I guess we like to feel good, I know we did back then.
So, come on, let’s do it all again.
I woke up this morning, with a wineglass by my side.
And a woman that I didn’t know, who claims to be my bride.
She said I’ll give you a score, of seven out of ten.
And I just wanna do it all again.
CHORUS
I woke up this morning, with a wineglass in my hand.
And a woman that I know too well, she’s the singer in my band.
Her husband’s gonna kill me, ‘cos I’m his best friend.
But I still wanna do it all again
CHORUS into key change
Yes let’s
Do it all again, just like we did before.
You know we had such good times, and I just want some more
I guess we like to feel good, I know we did back then.
So, come on, let’s do it all again.
Come on, let’s do it all again
Come on, let’s do it all again.
