Love's a funny old game. Some people only fall in love once, others, many times. Most of us eventually find "the one" But, what if your very first love turned out be that person, and you lost them? This song is about such a situation.
I'm deliberately trying to write in a few different genres, so this time it's a latin feel. I'm not sure it works over what is essentially a "sad" song, but it's done now, for better or worse.
THAT FIRST PERFECT LOVE
Wonderful times, thrilling but all too brief. The magic that was your first love.
You couldn’t know, how soon it would all come to grief. Bringing you down, like a drug.
Chorus
That first perfect love you will never forget. Was it such a long time ago?
Deep in your heart, there’s that tinge of regret. Why did you let her go?
Each time you fall, you hope it will be the last, and give all your heart when you try.
D’you think that your new love, will help overcome all the past, or just be one more goodbye?
Chorus
That first perfect love you will never forget. Was it such a long time ago?
But deep in your heart, there’s that tinge of regret. Why did you let her go?
SOLO
Memory won’t fade, of a love that was so sublime. Are you now counting the cost?
You may have to admit, as your watching the sands of time, “It’s better to have loved and lost”
Chorus
That first perfect love you will never forget. Was it such a long time ago?
But deep in your heart, there’s a tinge of regret. Why did you let her go?
