The MATW mission statement!
When we first played the Nottinghill Carnival we decided to introduce ourselves at the start of the set with a medley of the favourite rhythms and hits of the period by way of establishing our credentials. The medley was well received so we gradually replaced all the covers with material we'd written ourselves. Now we see this track as our signature tune. It constantly evolves, and we replace sections of it with new material on a regular basis. It also serves as an honourable retirement home for parts of songs that we no longer want to play in their entirety!
Even its official title changes from gig to gig - it's been "The Windowman Posse", "The 1984 Overture" and "Naughty Bill The Carnivore" - although it's usually referred to as "The Big Medley" by the band. If you don't like this, you don't like us ... so we really hope you do like it!
