As He Passes On Through Me Dedicated to my father, Richard

{ I was not going to share this so soon, but from a recent letter I got, I felt I needed to send it up...and I hope you enjoy it as much as my dad did before he departed this earth )
"Richard, my father, passed away peacefully in his sleep, in his bed, on June 11th, 2008. His father, a preacher in southern Ohio in the 1920's and 30s, died suddenly at home, on my fathers' 18th birthday. I, the last of his 5 children, carry on his name, the gift of both having and being a good father...and a part of his soul."
Took forty-three odd years
To get around to writing one for him
A man you all should know
Was a gentle man to all he met - to me he was so big
Brought me through so many lonely times
Lifted me back to my feet - Time and again
My father and our Dad
He had to find his own way all these years
Son of a preacher man
Who'd given all he could in his fifty-seven years
And when his maker called - he had to go
But to his son he left his soul
And now - he's passing it to me
Carry on his name - Carry on his soul
Carry on his name - Take it on and on
Take it all through me
In all the years I've known
The power of my fathers' heart and mind
Wasted way too many years
To tell him to his face I love him so
And I cry, yes I cry
I can cry - as he passes on through me
I can cry - as he passes on through me
I can cry - as he passes on through me
I can cry - as he passes on - through me
As he passes on through me {Repeats many,maany times, fading}
