A little over a year ago, my husband and I were coming down into the coastal bend for our first winter and I heard "welcome home" out of nowhere. When we got down here this year, this song came to me. It had been a rather difficult autumn season, and the ocean and gulls were la breath of fresh air.
Comin Home
Comin' home, comin' home, to a place she dreamed of when she was a child.
Comin' home, comin' home, with a smile upon her face all the while.
The sea breezes roll the waves white crests into the shore,
The dolphins laugh upon the swell.
Barefoot she walks the beach as the sun lights up the world,
and the seagulls call to her, welcome home, forever more, welcome home!
2. The pages turned, for so many years, as she put all else befroe her own desires.
With a broken heart, and endless fears, she did her best to do what was required.
She tried to meet their expectations everyday, But her dreams were lost along the way.
So she tried harder just to find another way,
but her heart ached endlessly and yearned for change, let something change.
3. Now she's comin' home, comin' home, to a place she dreamed of when she was a child.
Hand in hand, with her man, she finally learned to honor her desires.
The sea breezes roll the waves white crests into the shore,
the dolphins laugh upon the swell.
Barefoot they walk the beach as the sun lights up the world,
Now she's finally near the sea with the one she loves, welcome home, Welcome Home!
