Robert Jenkins songs
I'm reposting this one. Re-recorded it, shortened it, added a bit of harmony....it still might be too long for an artist to cut it....
Believe it or not, I actually wrote this song in my sleep, in a dream...weird..but hey, I'll take what I can get...
Some Dreams Do
Copyright 2006 Robert Jenkins
They were married 57 years and never spent a single night apart
Since the spring of 1941 when Mildred stood and pledged Charlie her heart
They were kids right out of high-school and they swore to see the world while they were young
But Charlie took a factory job when the first of seven children came along
They bought a little farm just on the outskirts of the town they'd always known
Then slowly they began to plant a gardent and raise a family of their own
They'd hold hands out on the front porch in the evening at the end of every day
And they would always give a wave and friendly smile to everyone who passed their way
And they were young
And they were strong
And their whole world stretched before them
Like the early morning sun
And they had dreams
Like young folks do
And they believed with all their heart they would come true
'Cause some dreams do
Charlie worked his factory job and Millie Packed his lunch-box every day
And they seldom took vacations, it seems another child was always on the way
But they always had the weekends and they spent it with their family and friends
And early Monday morning Charlie punched the clock and went to work again
(repeat chorus)
Summers turned to winter, days turned into months, turned into years
They watched their babies grow up and they shared in all their laughter and their tears
Then one by one they moved away, chased dreams and started families of their own
Now after all these years Charlie and Millie finally have some time alone
And they look back]
To when they were young
To the things they thought they wanted
And the way their life has gone
For they had dreams
They hoped would come true
And now they sit here on the front-porch and they smile
How they smile
'Cause some dreams do
'Cause some dreams do
