12 Steps And A Winding Road
Baby, where’d you find that picture?
Yea, that’s me as a younger man
Another party I hardly remember
I always had that drink in my hand
That’s not an image I’m proud of
But I’m glad that you found it just the same
‘Cause sometimes I need a reminder
Of where I am...and where I’ve been
I’ve come a long way from the man I used to be
And the face in that picture is just a faded memory
It’s been God’s grace and a lifeline
And one step at a time
Seems like a lifetime ago
But it’s been 12 steps and a winding road
Back then I was a little crazy
Nothing I wouldn’t do or wouldn’t try
I lived for the weekends and the whisky
To numb the loneliness I felt inside
Only God knows what it took to reach me
But somewhere along the way I took His hand
And though I can’t say it’s always been easy
Looking back, ... I understand
repeat chorus
Bridge:
Now I’ve tried to go back and to make some amends
For mistakes I have made in the past
For hearts I have broken and for bridges I’ve burned
But I’ve made peace with the life I now have
repeat chorus
