True story and it WAS just last night!
Yesterday's Clothes
I decided to sleep in my clothes last night
I was so darned tired, switched off the light
Just too much going in this world of mine
Even though, out of ten, I'd rate my life a nine
I decided to sleep in my clothes last night
I'm afraid this old body's giving up the fight
When I can move at all there are danger signs
That I'm over the top and I've crossed a line
Yesterday's clothes
Yesterdays clothes
The jury is back and this case is closed
I've got nuthin' to wear
But yesterday's clothes
Now I'm really not saying all of life is bad
Quite the opposite story what a ride I've had
When I look at posterity it makes me smile
And I pray for the energy to make it worthwhile
What I'm trying to say is life ain't all that bad
For a worn out grampy and a fizzling dad
But if you plowed all my ailment into one big pile
You could climb Mt. Katahdin and look up a mile(at my)
Yesterday's clothes
Yesterdays clothes
The jury is back and this case is closed
I've got nuthin' to wear
But yesterday's clothes
Now you can talk all you want to about golden years
How life's the same but in a lower gear
Well, my mind says yes but my body says no
Maybe a kick in the arse(heh, heh)would make me go
Yes you can talk all you want to about golden years
But my fingers won't move and I just can't hear
If I could see the meters...are they high or low?
My tracks are flat and my playing is slow
Yesterday's clothes
Yesterdays clothes
The jury is back and this case is closed
I've got nuthin' to wear
But yesterday's clothes
Now, honestly, I know there's more ahead
I'm not giving up and I'm surely not dead
Sometimes I look back at how it used to be
I hate to live in the past but all I can see are..
Yesterday's clothes
Yesterdays clothes
The jury is back and this case is closed
I've got nuthin' to wear
But yesterday's clothes
