The Fisherman's Song Written by my father Lloyd Smoot in the mid 1980's Verse 1: I get up each morning while its still real dark And all the dogs in the neighborhood bark While the sun goes up and the sun goes down. I catch enough fish to feed the whole darn town Verse 2: Now I'm on water more than I'm on land I can handle a rod with my right or left hand When it comes to casting I can drop a plug from a 100 feet into a coffee mug Chorus: I'm a Fisherman! I'm a Fisherman I like to go fishin any time I can I can spend all day in an ole rowboat and watch an ole bobber on the water float Verse 3: My wife says I have been fishin so long I smell like a fish and the odor is real strong I don't give a hoot what the fishin widow say I still go fishin every dog-gone day Verse 4: One day I was scaling a great big fish Scales as big as a frisby disk I gave one a toss at an ole Tom Cat I cut off his head now try to top that Repeat Chorus: Verse 5: If I get to heaven and they don't have fish Lord please grant me one last wish Send me back to Florida every now and then So I can catch a mess of fish in the Gulf again Repeat Chorus
