Paul Pedersen, Jr. songs
THE BLACK AND BLUES
At four years old I knew there's something wrong
I tried to run but his hands were strong
A beatin' followed and I ...I lived them black and blues
He didn't like no friends I had at school
Called 'em hippies, junkies, freaks and fools
When I defended them.... I'd lived them black and blues
Folks wondered why I ran away from home
Said if I was there boy they'd break my bones
But if they'd really known
The punches that been thrown
There'd be no questions at all
In later years I found that through it all
The silent treatment hurts the worst of all
There's more than one way to dish out them black and blues
I've heard some people tell how Nam was hell
But I just laugh at those stories they tell
I fought a war for years, of bruises, belts and jeers...
And had to promise I'd never tell
I'm glad that my two boys have never felt
The degradation of an angry belt
You're less than spit if you dish out them black and blues
Black and blues
Black and blues
Soooo blue
Black and blues
I had the privlidge of having Clyde Heberling (harp) and Jim Heffernan (Dobro) on this session.
