AS I CRY MY BROKEN HEART TO SLEEP
C. Paul Evans Pedersen, Jr. Mount Misery Music, BMI
I guess we all write that one song that just wears us out...the one where we feel spent and tired and drained after writing it. The one that makes us feel that there's now a little piece of our heart that's gone forever, and will never come back to be called our own. Ther one that reminds us of Josey Wales sayin', "I guess we all lost a little in that damn war".
This one's mine.
I'll never get to touch you
Or feel your lips kiss mine
And 'ceptin' for this picture
I'll never look into your eyes
The distance in between us
Keeps the hours of each night
Unbearable and lonesome
In this prison where I'll die
And as I lay my head down
No Jesus do I seek
I've passed the point of prayin'
As I cry my broken heart to sleep
There ain't no harder hurtin'
My heart will ever know
Than to not have ever held you
'Fore I had to let you go
And as I lay my head down
No Jesus do I seek
I've passed the point of prayin'
As I cry my broken heart to sleep
