Grass stains on his shrinking jeans
Smudges on the wall
Where pencil marks keep inching up
To show him just how tall
Picture hanging on the fridge
Of a smiling face
He can print his own name now
And tie his sneaker lace

But apron strings won't tie his wings

Only God makes miracles
So thank you Father for the loan

Monsters underneath his bed
Have begun to fade
At the doctor's for a shot
He didn't seem afraid
Tricycles to training wheels
Now training wheels are gone
I run behind him then let go
While part of me hangs on

He's growing up so fast
