This is a ridiculous song. The words made perfect sense to me when I wrote it during the two weeks in the deep woods of Maine, talking with animals and loons. But anyway, I blame this song completely on the two Dianes. One told me that I should write a song while I was away and years ago one told me to write a happy song. It took a case of "woods weird" to do it. The "salt" comment is for the ones who tell me all the time to lay off the salt because it's not good for me. Well, in the woods of Maine, alone, I salt everything!! Heh, heh! I stole the stick-poking stuff from the thread, being a closet threadite-lurker and also borrowed some of Randy's socks that keep getting knocked off in his reviews. :)
I'm Not Here
I'm not here to entertain
I'm not here to get in your brain
I'm just here to sing a happy song
I'm not here to rock and roll
I'm not here to condemn your soul
I'm just here to sing this happy song
It took eons to decide
I should take the world in stride
Just chuck my foolish pride and get along
We all need to forgive
Make the most of one life to live
To look above for guidance, right and wrong
I'm not here to win or lose
I'm not here to get in your shoes
I'm just here to sing a happy song
I'm not here to take your salt
I'm not here to expose your faults
I'm just here to sing this happy song
In the little life I live
God is sifting with His sieve
And leaves me mostly blessings in the screen
But the lumps that won't fall through
May be nuggets, may be you
Oh wash my eyes that treasures will be seen
I'm not here to answer why
I'm not here to poke a stick in your eye
I'm just here to sing a happy song
I'm not here to wind your clock
I'm not here to knock off your socks
I'm just here to sing this happy song
In the little life I live
God is sifting with His sieve
And leaves me mostly blessings in the screen
But the lumps that won't fall through
May be nuggets, may be you
Oh wash my eyes that treasures will be seen
I'm not here to be your judge
I'm not here to make you chocolate fudge
I'm just here to sing a happy song
I'm not here to spread the gloom
I'm not here to brighten up your room
I'm just here to sing a happy song
