Some of the lines of this song will only make sense to the family members and it's for them that I post this song. I don't do rock and this production is full of flaws and holes but notwithstanding, I was determined that this was going to be an uptempo song. So there. LOL!
There is a little girl in my life. She is just 10 years old and is a dear cousin's granddaughter, a dear cousin's daughter, a dear cousin's niece...on and on it goes. She was born with spina bifida and has had numerous procedures and operations for this and other maladies. But the worse pain was to follow when she developed symptoms of children's bipolar disorder. Recently it reached a point of being dangerous to herself and others and she is now in a children's hospital and basically in prison with restricted visitation and privileges. Her family found that she was hiding her meds and not taking them for either her physical or bipolar condition. Perhaps this stay will at least get her medications regulated. We're all heartbroken and helpless in the face of this dreadful event. This song may explains some of what is going on in Ophelia's mind and heart. A beautiful child is in conflict with another person inside...
Ophelia's Journey
The prison that you live in
Is without a keeper of the gate
But struggle all you want to
Against the iron that is hate
One so pretty
One so young
Upon your shoulders
Your world is hung
Ophelia who are you today
Ophelia will anybody pray?
You came already wounded
The cruel spears had pierced your side
But the real pain was to follow
That other person ceased to hide
One so pretty
One so young
Upon your shoulders
Your world is hung
Ophelia who are you today
Ophelia will anybody pray?
Now you're busy writing epitaphs
On the places no one sees
And you wonder why you're punished
For just trying to be free
One so pretty
One so young
Upon your shoulders
Your world is hung
Ophelia who are you today
Ophelia will anybody pray?
