This is a song I wrote a few years ago after my son's girlfriend broke up with him-it happens to all of us but she didn't handle it well. My version of the song is already posted here. This is a version done by a wonderful musician from Maryland named Edward Sparks. He heard the song and asked if he could record it. I believe that he absolutely made the song much more than it was before!! Thank you Ed for that.
Next To Nothing-Jeff Lustick 2008
Next to nothing's what you gave me
Then you turned to walk away
Must have thought your words had saved me
Just another game you played
Was I a fool to keep believin'
When you said I was the one
Didn't think that you'd be leavin'
Or that your heart was on the run
It's hard to know just what I'm feeling
Sometimes words get lost inside
Still the moment's left me reeling
It's hard to watch a first love die
A gentle soul can be mistreated
When a trust has been betrayed
Feeling empty and defeated
As scenes of better times replayed
One day there will be another
To know what you just could not see
With the courage to discover
All that lives inside of me
The face that looks back in the mirror
Needs a road to call its own
Day by day it's getting clearer
Yours could never bring me home
