These are song words I wrote many some time ago. Mr. teecee made nice music. We ask Ms. Songgoddess to sing because she sang so lovely on our Christmas song. But Ms. Songgoddess has more interesting idea, which is to have her cousin (fifth cousin remove twice) Svetlana Kopcienski sing the vocal. Svetlana (not the Svetlana Kopcienski I know; I guess everyone probably knows a Svetlana Kopcienski!) has the family voice. Is most pretty, yes? ~Angyalka Oszkar
The Gifts You Gave
The well out back at grandpa’s farm
Is twice as deep as you
You won my heart with grace and charm
The whiskey helped some, too
With leather jacket, perfect hair,
And a borrowed credit card
It wasn’t right, it wasn’t fair
To make me fall so hard
And though you’ve gone and left my life
You’re more than memory
The fifteen months I was your wife
You gave so much to me
You gave me
Daily lies and nightly grief
Blackened eyes and missing teeth
Bill collectors, mounds of debt
And gifts that aren’t done giving yet
You gave me twins, Alice and sweet Lydia
You gave me crabs, Herpes and Chlamydia
You took my love, you took my car,
The cash I tried to save
Regret’s too weak a word by far
When I think of what you gave
You gave me
Daily lies and nightly grief
Blackened eyes and missing teeth
Bill collectors, mounds of debt
And gifts that aren’t done giving yet
You gave me twins, Alice and sweet Lydia
You gave me crabs, Herpes and Chlamydia
Those months I spent believing
Were the months you spent deceiving
You’re honest like a senator’s toupee
If I could do it over
I would stay at home with Rover
Until I felt your poison drift away
Daily lies and nightly grief
Blackened eyes and missing teeth
Bill collectors, mounds of debt
And gifts that aren’t done giving yet
You gave me twins, Alice and sweet Lydia
You gave me crabs, Herpes and Chlamydia
