Thanks to my long-time co-writer buddy Todd Caudill ("Coach" on the Ramp) and my new co-writer pal, Mike Daniels, for their help on this one. The song gave me a chance to give several of my gig venues on Hilton Head a "shout out" ... as well as sing the praises of our delicious May River shrimp. Of course, shrimps, oysters, grits, and fixins ain't quite complete without good cold beer .. which, in our world, is the great Palmetto brand from Charleston.
Tequila and Salt
I remember our honeymoon, at the Marriott Surf Watch Hotel
We stayed in a beachfront cabana, I can hear the big ocean swells
But amenities, were not of concern as you slipped off your dress
I was just thanking the stars up above,
It was you, that I was paired with
-Chorus-
Like tequila and salt, cola and rum
May River shrimp and Palmetto beer
Take one away, the other just ain’t the same
It's like me when you’re not here
-Break-
I bought a Salty Dog tee shirt, you flew your kite on the beach
We rode our bikes to the Tiki Hut bar,
Drank a beer in the warm summer breeze
I remember the sun and your blonde hair
And the way my heart beat like a drum
Us snuggled up in a hammock at sundown
What a pair, we have become!
- Solo & Bridge -
When we're together my life, how it it always tastes so good
That's why I'm always craving your love, and why I’m still
Drinking it up ….
-Chorus & End0-
