Eddy’s Angel
Times were tough for Eddy's angel
Now they can’t get enough of Eddy’s angel
She listened to the rain
Now the creaking of the door
The memory of pain
Reverberated in every pore
She gave him all she had
She couldn’t give any more
He tried to take more than that
She could take no more
Times were tough for Eddy's angel
Now they can’t get enough of Eddy’s angel
She tried to get away
But she didn’t get too far
Eddy found her dancin’ at a topless bar
The marquee said, “Angela – Angel of Delight”
And Eddy moved in again that very same night
Times were tough for Eddy's angel
Now they can’t get enough of Eddy’s angel
Angela wants to touch the sunlight on the flowers next to the porch
To hold the little boy running through the grass to her
To hear the dog bark at the front door when the shadows grow long
(Could that be Ed coming home from the hardware store?)
Times were tough for Eddy's angel
Now they can’t get enough of Eddy’s angel
