TO SAVE A DOG

Melody/Lyric: Jon Hanson Vocal: Dale Dog Lover Crockett
I lived life tied up and beaten
And there were days I hadn’t eaten
I drank from puddles in the rain
The preacher at the church next door
Said love is something we shouldn’t ignore
It’s hard to know love when all you’ve known is pain
Back then I thought that maybe dogs weren’t part of God’s plan
I needed something to restore my faith in man
I ALWAYS WONDERED IF GOD HEARD DOGGY PRAYERS
SOME DAYS I FELT IT MIGHT BE MORE THAN I COULD BEAR
BEFORE I WAS RESCUED LIFE WAS PRETTY RAW
GOD MAY SAVE HUMANS BUT IT TAKES A HUMAN TO SAVE A DOG
Now I have a new home and a new name
Since the people from the shelter came
I’m safe, fed, and warm in my new place
My new family shows me real love
Now life’s just one long belly rub
And I've been thanking God, for man’s grace
People like to say that Dog is man’s best friend
I’m glad got a chance at love again
