This is song Greg and I wrote via cell phone. We got talking about how the country has been sold out by our smiling politicians.
I started quoting some of what I think is the greatest speech ever given: Patrick Henry’s Give Me Liberty or Death
I forgot we wrote this, I found it today while I was looking for something else.
The song is much kinder than the actual events that prompt it. In1776 it was the British that oppressed us, today the oppression comes from our own "so called" representatives.

There was a time in fair this land
Rich and poor together would stand
Folk would hold true and try to do
What was best for the red, white and blue
ARE PATRIOTS A THING OF THE PAST
HAS THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BEEN SURPASSED
BY THE LUST OF POWER SILVER AND GOLD
TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER HAVE WE BEEN SOLD?
Bridge:
PATRICK HENRY WHERE ARE YOU NOW?
CAN'T YOU HEAR YOUR COUNTRY CRYING OUT LOUD?
I'LL UTTER IT NOW AND WITH MY LAST BREATH
GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH
I believe where we went wrong
Was when the pro politicians came along
No longer representing the common man
That's when the whole damn thing got out of hand!
Chorus
Bridge
Back story or rational:
Many are beginning to believe we are being sold out by the right and the left, a few observations:
1. Right wing war whores and Neo-cons: i.e. Military Keynesian’s that foment war to extract money from the treasury (taxpayers)
2. Leftist progressives bent on socialism and buying votes with the voters own money. Flip on Fox or CNN and see what’s going on in Greece (we aren’t that far from it)
3. Eroding property rights and unstable money. You don’t have to be an economist to know that if we owned a company together and each had 50 shares and I started printing shares without adding value to the company that the value of your 50 shares would be worth less, until they are worthless.
4. Serious intolerance for opposing points of view, coming from right and left.
5. Career politicians that are self serving rather than serving.
