We roll out of bed at seven we're off to work by nine
eat alone at our desk at lunch time
At five oclock we pack it up and head for home
for another quiet night alone
and it don't matter that its Friday night
we'll curl up with a good book and dim the lights

I wanta get back in the world

There's a guy just down the hall leaves Roses at our door
she might wanna be friends but nothin' more
and there's another one at work two cubicles down
and I know they both ask her out
Cause it gets so cold in here when they come around
I wish one of them would just break this brick wall down

I need more than just her memories
but she won't let him go and its not up to me
I know she's just trying to keep us safe
but whats the point in livin' this way

I'd almost given up then just the other day
we ran into an old friend outside the Safeway
She smiled at him politely as she fumbled for her keys
When he brushed against her arm I think I skipped a beat
well its not much but I'll take what I can get
I have to believe theres still hope for us yet
