"Hero"

This year its Spiderman
everything is Spiderman
from his P.J.'s to his sheets
Little figures on the shelf
I know thats how he sees himself
makin' life safe out on the streets
there are days he can't find the strength
to get out of his bed
but he's got visions in his head

can fly like a plane
save the day
stop a runaway train
and he doesn't see me 
as he whispers to his pillow
I wonder what its like
to be a hero

The doctor said he might never see five
almost lost him a couple of times
and we thank God for every day
He fights through tears that fill his eyes
the kinda hurt that'd make a grown man cry
it blows his mom and me away
His body grows weak like a worn down machine
but I pray in his dreams
