Jon Hanson songs
This song was re-chord-ed to a Jazz version for a songwriters group assignment I had for August. This month the assignment is write a song about food. Dale Crockeet did most all the work I am still struggling with 3 chord simple stuff.

BAD AT SCHOOL
© 2010 Jon Hanson
I grew up on the poor side of tomato town
So long ago “party” was still a “noun”
I went to work fulltime when I was just sixteen
I wouldn’t recommend it but it worked out for me…
I WAS BAD AT SCHOOL, BUT I’VE BEEN PRETTY GOOD AT LIFE
IT TOOK ME A WHILE BUT I FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT
I got two children and a beautiful wife
Guess you could say they saved my life
Graduated college summa cum barely
By the time I was fifty I had my MBA degree…
I WAS BAD AT SCHOOL, BUT I’VE BEEN PRETTY GOOD AT LIFE
IT TOOK ME A WHILE BUT I FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT
Dale works the Les Paul
I bought a few properties when I was young
Now the tax man thinks I’m worth a million
I spend my days trying to train tenants
Life’s pretty sweet when you collect the rents
I WAS BAD AT SCHOOL, BUT I’VE BEEN PRETTY GOOD AT LIFE
IT TOOK ME A WHILE BUT I FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT
Tomato Town is Reynoldsburg, Ohio I've been around here since 1966. I actually live a few miles outside of town in the next county now.
