I wrote this with the three chords I can play in April and just kept playing and shaping it. It's about as good as I can get it with C,G,D and a capo. I kept hearing it as a piano demo though, I had Jay Speight do the piano playing and vocal. It's a pretty simple arrangement, but with my limited ability it took me a few months to come up with it. I played and sang it a few times at local song groups, I gave the finished song to my daughter last week. She is 17 now. Seems to work well with fathers that have young daughters, they get it.
P.S. haven't been on the ramp since April probably, working on building more small warehouses, more (book) writing etc. I'll try to get back more often. Have a great day...Jon
Daughter of Mine

I hope she finds someone whose heart can break like mine
Not someone like me no- I'm thinking better than my kind
Someone who knows what her love is worth
It's the day I've been dreading every day since her birth
I WISH THAT LITTLE GIRL COULD STAY A LITTLE LONGER
I WISH SOMETIMES I COULD BE A LITTTLE STRONGER
TODAY I WISH I WISH I COULD STOP THE HANDS OF TIME
AND I THANK GOD FOR THAT DAUGHTER OF MINE
I know while I'm here we're gonna laugh and love
And it's my faith telling me- today is just enough
When I walk her down that aisle- on her wedding day
Crushed between pride and fear- I'll have no words to say
I WISH THAT LITTLE GIRL COULD STAY A LITTLE LONGER
I WISH SOMETIMES I COULD BE A LITTTLE STRONGER
TODAY I WISH I WISH I COULD STOP THE HANDS OF TIME
AND I THANK GOD FOR THAT DAUGHTER OF MINE
