Rusty Blake ramblings
I'm the leaf that just fell from the tree
I'll be somebody's compost you see.
I was once young and bright take heed of my plight
I'll soon be riddled with holes like Swiss cheese
I fluttered in yesterdays breeze
Looking down at young Duane and Louise
As they strolled through the glade I could feel my skin fade
Then my petiole snapped from the tree. Ouch!
I'm that leaf, I'm that leaf
And the autumn's a dastardly thief
I was once young and supple now my stem has uncoupled
And instead of on top I'm beneath.
Seems my wickets are wobbling more
And I haven't a doubt what's in store
Like that leaf overhead I'm hanging on by a thread
Won't be long when I too hit the floor
