Jon Hanson songs
This song is something I did with Dale last Saturday after attending an adoption shower/reception for a newly formed family at our church, I wrote and recorded it within hours of the party, because if I didn’t do it right then it probably would not have ever gotten recorded (I am rewriting now). I was kind of overwhelmed by the sights and sounds. I don't know if the song makes any sense from my perspective, but the family appreciated it. I plan to rewrite it from the perspective of the 10 year old (Christina). The little one is Kaylie (age 3) and they are sisters. At this point it is more of a news report of what I saw and how I felt.
Christina and Kaylie have a real shot at a great life a good education and now the cycle they were in is broken.
This to me is one of the best parts of belonging to my little SBC church (27 years). These kids have moved from a bad situation to a great family with educated and loving parents. And that gladdens my heart.
The Adoption

There’s a little brick church in our little town
It’s Saturday morning and God’s grace is all around
Fellowship hall, food and friends, man, I love this
There’s a lump in my throat as they open gifts
It’s an adoption party for Christina and Kaylie
I’ve seen it before but it always gets to me
THERE’S A PLACE INSIDE OF ME I HAVEN’T BEEN IN YEARS
GOD KEEPS IT EMPTY JUST FOR TIMES LIKE THIS
I AM RENEWED AS I FILL WITH HAPPY TEARS
I THANK GOD AGAIN FOR THOSE THAT ADOPT KIDS
The new dad says I don’t hunt or fish
And two beautiful girls complete my wish
He stands to speak he pauses as his voice cracks
Full of feelings but right now its words he lacks
As they leave the little one gets a piggy back ride
Mom and dad two little girls what a beautiful sight
Chorus
Bridge
They say love is not love until it’s shared unconditionally
And today I saw God’s love played out right in front of me
