2014-03-20Incredibly strong story in your lyric, Mike. How you told it with so few words and such tight meter amazes me! My fav line "for a folded flag to come her way"! And that chorus really soars and has beautiful images that touch on all the senses. I know you could sing it better but it sounds pretty good as it is! GREAT tribute to your Uncle Melvin. So sorry for your loss.

2014-03-20If anyone wonders about the way the verses are sung .. I had in mind that since the song has a military aspect that the verses should be semi-cadenced, which is what I was trying to do .. though maybe not as well as I wanted .. : ) [Delete]
