This was from a story I read in Guideposts Magazine.  It was about a little girl dying of cancer.  I'd love to play it for the parents, but there is no way to ever find out who they are.  Their daughter's story inspired the song which I fashioned into something more people could relate to.  The original bridge was the little girl in Heaven sitting at the table for two with Jesus.  The kernel of the concept is still there, although I chose to focus more on the emptiness.
